Sustainability Series – Grapes, Wine & Growing Sustainably
There’s hardly a business, news headline, or event today, that doesn’t mention ESG, as in Environmental, Social, and Governance, responsible business, or sustainability. The wine industry is under particular pressure from climate change and has an 8,000-year history of adaptation to change. Wineries have unique perspective into resilience, with lessons that can be applied in how we plan and execute incentive travel events.
With that in mind, we invite you to join us “virtually” as Kurt Simcic, Head Viticulturalist for Mission Hill Family Estate and all seven wineries in Iconic Wineries of British Kelowna’s collective. Kurt will talk about the process of taking their 47 vineyards organic, how farming impacts wine, and what sustainable, organic, and biodynamic winemaking actually means for guest experiences and the future of their Okanagan Valley destination.
Following Kurt’s presentation, we will move into breakout sessions and continue the sustainability conversation, sharing best practices and new ideas, all around sustainable incentives. We want to know how you are approaching sustainability with your vendors and do you have a sustainability checklist? What are your clients’ sustainable priorities? There will be representatives from SITE Canada and SITE Global’s sustainability committees to help navigate this overwhelming topic. We assure you there will be helpful takeaway tools to apply to your upcoming events.
